This year, coats collected in New York during Brooklyn Industries’ Holiday Party and Coat Drive on December 9th (held in all 11 New York stores) and throughout December were donated to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in New York City, a One Warm Coat affiliated charity. The IRC exists in more than 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities to respond to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and to help people to survive and rebuild their lives.
The New York City chapter assists refugees invited to the U.S. by the government to seek safety and freedom. The IRC helps them to rebuild their lives by providing them with a furnished home, food, health care, rent assistance, English language classes, job training and more.
BKI is thankful to its customers for donating so many warm coats (several of which were vintage BKI!) this holiday season to support this important organization.
