We’re opening our doors in Philadelphia in three days. Yes, three days! In our wildest dreams, everyone in Philly would take the day off work this Monday and come hang out with us. The store is beautiful. Our design team worked day and night upcycling wood pallets and restoring furniture to make it the best looking shopping space it could be.

To show our Philly fans just how excited we are for them, we’re launching Philly13! We’re giving away one BKI bag a day during the first 13 days our 13th store location is open.

Here’s how it works: Check Brooklyn Industries’ Twitter, Facebook, or Words from the Watertower blog every day (starting February 1st) at 1 PM EST for the PHILLY13 password of the day. After you have the password, and after 2 PM, visit Brooklyn Industries in Philly on 1525 Walnut Street and win a BKI bag if you’re the first person to tell a store associate the password of the day. It’s easy! And for 13 lucky shoppers it’ll be fun.

Let’s face it, Valentine’s Day can be very stressful. Whether in a relationship or single, the day and all the days leading up to it can often make us anxious. We hope to bring ease to the task of shopping this year with three of our favorite graphic t-shirts.

One of our most humorous and lovable t-shirts is Love Vectors. We adore the hugging pigeon and rat graphic not only because it’s two of New York’s most common mascots but because it’s so darn cute! In addition, the t-shirt is 100% Organic Cotton, which means it’s super soft and environmentally friendly. If you’re giving to your boyfriend, dad, or brother this Valentine’s show them love with this style.

For the ladies, we suggest our set of BFF t-shirts. Even though this retro inspired set is sold separately, we love to see them worn side by side by the best of friends. We think twin sisters will love it, and of course the BFF you’ve always had. Surprise your best friend on the 14th with a token of your affection.

This is by far one of our favorite looks this spring. Zipper skirts and denim skirts rule, so naturally we love the two together. We like setting off the toughness of the skirt with a bow graphic.

We expect to open our new store in 16 days. Our countdown has begun! Many of our Philly fans have already reached out to us to express their excitement. We’re excited too! Art is being put onto walls, and soon clothing will be shipped. Here are a few photos of the progress.

We hope to meet all of our Philly friends when it’s done.

Our Spring 2010 collection is now available in stores and online! The collection and photography campaign channels 80’s New York with inspiration from the movie “Downtown 81” and the works of French-born designer and photographer Maripol.

The collection is full of bright, fun apparel. We photographed the campaign against the backdrop of Bushwick’s front of graffiti walls, beneath highway underpasses and in front of abandoned buildings. Included in the collection are our new coated canvas handbags. H-Bags, Large H-Bags and Hobo bags are now available in durable 100% coated canvas exterior fabric, in two different patterns! These will be great for moms on the go, or anyone who needs to carry around a lot and wants to do it looking good.

It’s not too early to start shopping for spring. Many of these styles will work well now. Tell us what you think about the collection.

Monday has got to be the most hated day of the week. If there’s a popular 80’s song out there by The Bangles about how much Monday sucks, then the consensus has to be that everyone hates Monday. However, BKI Music can’t help to feel optimistic about the week to come. So, to get yourself into gear as well as get you through today, here are the High Five songs to listen to for a pleasant Monday:

1. “Animal” by Miike Snow:

2. “Cousins” by Vampire Weekend:

3. “Swim” by Surfer Blood

The holidays are over and to turn our frowns upside down we’re focusing on Spring. Our Spring ’10 collection that is! We took it to the streets again, photographing our clothing in different Brooklyn neighborhoods. The new collection has rompers, mini skirts and great lightweight fleece for women; blazers, Brooklyn hoodies and polos for men.

It’ll be in stores soon, which means spring weather is just around the corner, right?
