You can do a lot with a white button-up woven. Whether tucked into a skirt with a blazer and colored tights or worn loose with a tank and jeans, the Meyer Woven Shirt is a great find and fit. The subtle polka dots found on the print complement the contrast black trim at the cuffs and button placket. We suggest pairing it with the Sterling Jacket and the Williamsburg Skinny of your choice.

On September 10, 2009, from 6 pm to 10 pm, Brooklyn Industries will host two parties for Fashion’s Night Out!

Our Smith Street and West Village locations will celebrate Fashion’s Night Out in partnership with Vogue Magazine, NYC & Company, the City of New York and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Both stores will have live musical performances, a special limited edition t-shirt giveaway, Beija Cachaça cocktails, a shopping discount and a preview of Brooklyn Industries’ Winter 2009 Collection.

Smith Street will feature a musical performance by Brooklyn-based band BREAKING LACES and a musical performance by NYC’s SCOUT. BREAKING LACES is a three-piece alternative rock trio that has sold over 30,000 CDs and has played more than 500 shows in the past five years. SCOUT is led by singer/songwriter Ashen Keilyn with collaborative partner Steve Schiltz. SCOUT has appeared on NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and was featured on HBO’s “The Sopranos” with a performance role.

At Brooklyn Industries’ West Village store, A MILLION YEARS, a four-piece Brooklyn-based band will perform a special acoustic set from their album Incandescent.

And to make these events all the more special, guests and shoppers at both stores can enter to win Brooklyn Industries’ limited edition women’s “Brooklyn Couture” ($34) t-shirt specially made for the Fashion’s Night Out event. Ten “Brooklyn Couture” t-shirts will be raffled off for free at each store. The shirt will also be released for purchase only at these two locations and online.

The waxed canvas in our bag line this Fall invites rain to fall. It calls upon the English heath, the Australian plains, of fences that need mending, wide-brimmed hats, and men spitting tobacco down at the country store. The material insists on durability and utilitarianism while pushing the boundaries ever so slightly with olive and burgundy.

The waterproof waxed canvas series includes the Conduit Backpack in Red and Army Green with tough seat belt webbing and buffalo check flannel lining, as well as a variety of sturdy over-the-shoulder laptop and messenger bags.

This week, we filmed a special public service announcement for WPIX/Channel 11 and New York’s Coalition for the Homeless about “Project Back to School”, a bag drive to support over 16,000 homeless youth in NYC who need school supplies this fall. We had the opportunity to meet R & B singer Brian McKnight who recorded the PSA at our SoHo store. To learn more about the cause, please visit, and if you’re moved to donate a bag visit our website for our list of drop-off locations!

Summer is almost over! Where are you going this weekend?

Our dresses this season pay homage to the movie “Belle de Jour” by Luis Bunel. After Yves Saint Laurent’s death last year we were thinking about pent-up housewives, and the outfits he designed for this movie. As we flock to our uniform dress, straight with a stripe of plaid, are we really liberated or returning again to 1960’s selves – the masochistic desire to keep house and to play the slut?

Our Fall II collection is hitting stores soon! Below is a photo taken by our stylist, Eugene, in Prospect Park. Our CEO, Lexy, snapped all the beautiful shots once again. We couldn’t be more thrilled for cardigans and cropped bomber jackets, even on a 95 degree day like today.
